The scariest nightmare I have ever had was this:

I was being followed by my stepfather in a parking lot. I was on foot and so was he. I found a police officer and was trying to tell him that I needed help, but he wouldn't listen to me. It was very real and very vivid. I was terrified of what would happen when my stepfather caught up to me.

I awoke from that dream trembling and terrified. I cried for over an hour after I woke up. My husband (then boyfriend) laid beside me and held me while I cried without even a tiny clue as to what was wrong. My stepfather abused me when I was a kid and one of my biggest fears is running into him somewhere when I'm alone. (Not married to my mom anymore...)

Hi Mom,
That was really a traumatic nightmare that relived a very traumatic past experience. I hope and pray that you have already moved on from that sordid experience and have also forgiven your stepfather. God will deal with him is His own righteous ways. Thanks for sharing with us a very honest experience in your life. That is highly commendable my friend. Thanks for your visit and very honest comments. God bless you always.

Hi Bingkee,
Yes, that was a nightmare indeed. There are severe nightmares that cause deaths to male Asians. They call it apnea? Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Not for a very long time. I occasionally get dreams about water - I grew up on the coast - but they no longer cause me even anxiety. Maybe it's an age thing. Maybe I'm reasonably happy in life. Maybe I've become inert ...

Mel,

There are some things in life that are, perhaps, beyond the human ability to forgive.

Moving on is fairly easy as time moves us forward without our consent.

As I grow older, I find that each new age brings with it a new set of situations. My daughter will turn 5 yrs old this year, the age I was when my stepfather first began abusing me. It will be a difficult milestone for me because I see myself in her and continue to grieve for the childhood I lost as I see firsthand exactly what I lost.

Hi On The Money,
I must admit I'm not an expert in dream interpretation. But whatever our dreams are, whether good or bad, the Lord will make us understand them if we will just seek guidance from Him. Thanks for your visit and wonderful comments. God bless you always.

Hi Mom,
I don't want to moralize or to sound self righteous but the Bible says, "forgive so that your sins may be forgiven." Maybe a cruel and despicable act may be humanly impossible to forgive but if we turn it over to the Lord and ask Him to give us the grace of forgiveness, we can forgive and forget. We can never move on and have freedom in our lives if we are chained by past events. Who does not have skeletons in his closet? If we are in Christ, we are a new creation, the old self is "dead," the new self is born again. I will pray that God give you the grace of forgiveness so that you can finally move on. Thanks for your revisit. God bless you always.

For one summer when I was 15, every night I would dream a pack of wolves were chasing me, caught me and were tearing me apart while I was still alive. 5 years later, it was discovered that I had lupus, which means "wolf" in latin, which has been tearing me apart.

Hi Shiela,
Yes, it is a prophetic dream, a premonition of what was to happen. I think God was warning you of a severe trial you will have in your life. Thanks for your visit and inspired comments. God bless you always.

Dear Mel
I dreamed once that the Lord had come and forgotten me.
It made my heart sink and I was so afraid!
But when I woke up, I knew that He would never forget the child who He had died for!.......Christian love, Terry

Hi Terry,
That is just a nightmare spawned by the enemy of your faith. God will never leave nor forsake us for that is His promise. God loves us so much that He gave the life of His only begotten Son to redeem us so why would He leave us? Thanks for your visit and inspired comments. God bless you always.

I don't encounter nighmares while sleeping... only when I'm awake :-)

But seriously, I would occasionally have very scary nightmares when I was a kid... but now that I'm 40+ I just don't have them anymore.

Hi Computer Aid,
Nightmares are no respecter of age. You can have a nightmare at whatever age you maybe. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless.
