The new design of your blog is gorgeous. I drink only herbal or spice teas for health problems. The caffeine in real tea and in coffee doesn't agree with me. I love peppermint, cinnamon, chai, and other teas. I never did like the taste of coffee, so its a good thing I don't have a social life in the public or I'd really be looked at as strange for refusing tea and coffee.

Hi Shiela,
Have you read about the news of a new drug against lupus that cures most lupus symptoms including flares? I hope this could help you. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Belgium: UCB launches clinical experience of a new drug against lupus erythematosus moderate and severe
Mar 8, 2011

The Belgian biopharmaceutical company UCB said on Tuesday in a statement sent to Xinhua, the enrollment of the first volunteer patients, with its U.S. partner Immunomedics, for the start of the trial a new drug against lupus erythematosus and serious way, epratuzumab.

“Consistency with epratuzumab demonstrated improvements in clinical studies to date is a platform promising to begin the next phase of testing, it is also an encouraging sign of the drug’s potential to become an effective treatment option for lupus” said Professor Iris Loew-Friedrich, Chief Medical Officer of UCB.

The trial will last 54 weeks maximum, aims to evaluate the efficacy, safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of epratuzumab on the first 780 patients.

Lupus erythematosus is a systemic disease, especially among young women, with joint damage, muscle and kidney.

The FDA recently approved Lupus drug Benlysta. Although approval of many drugs by the FDA has failed to garner much attention from the public, the approval of Benlysta has attracted much attention since it is the first drug that comes to treat lupus. Benlysta comes as a good news to people suffering from lupus.

It should be noted that Benlysta is not a 100 % cure, but offers hope for the people who are suffering from some form of lupus. Lupus is a disease in which the human immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells in the skin, lungs, brain, joints etc.

The Lupus Foundation claims that Benlysta is "the first drug ever to be specifically developed to treat lupus." It should be noted that previous treatments of benlysta involved steroids, antimalarial drug and aspirin etc.

“We plan to moderately raise our fair value estimate as we move our approval probability up to 100% and increase our pricing expectations to $35,000 per year. Our best-case scenario largely reflects these assumptions. We expect the firm and its partner, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) , will fully launch the drug in the second quarter,” the Human Genome Sciences (HGSI), the maker of benlysta, announced Wednesday.

Hope this will help you.

Thanks for thinking of me. All the lupus support groups I belong to are buzzing about this, but its not a cure. It just controls flare ups and pain, makes it more bearable. The side affects are pretty severe and it takes 52 to 72weeks to work. I don't know who might want to have side affects for 1+ years with no help, only to have slight help after that time. It's not approved in any other country than USA, so the rest of the world is watching people who take it to see how they react and if it helps them. First the USA has to get insurance companies to pay for it or no one can afford it. It's about $1000 a month. Thanks again for thinking about me.

Hi Shiela,
I just got excited when I read that news. But anyway, $1,000. a month is very expensive. Just want to give you the info. Thanks anyway. God bless you always.

The first beveraghe of the day has to be coffee. It wakes me up.

I like coffe, but because its so expensive, can 't afford more than a cup.

Hi Amrita,
I am basically a coffee drinker especially when I read that coffee has beneficial effects on the body. Coffee (the local variety) is very cheap in our country. You must be referring to imported brands when you said that coffee was expensive for you. At any rate, thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi Tomas,
What a compliment but as always, TO GOD BE THE GLORY. Nothing wrong with drinking coffee or tea. Both are good for the body except the nicotine in both drinks. It's wonderful to read from researches that coffee can actually help our heart. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi Dhemz,
Lately did I learn that coffee is actually good for the heart because it contains more anti oxidants than most juices. Iced coffee is great especially if you buy it at Starbucks, hehehe. Both coffee and tea are great for us. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.
