TO LIVE IN ORDER TO PLEASE GOD AND TO GIVE GLORY TO HIS NAME.
Salt is a prevative, it purifies and flavors and heals. As Christians we are calle d to be such good influences in society. Oreserving morality and God 's laws, encouraging others to lead godly lives, acting as God ;s healing agents and offering Hi s love and kindness through our good deeds.
Today, when we refer to a person as "the salt of the earth," we generally mean this in a favorable way. Such people are unpretentious, uncomplicated, devoted, loyal, earnest, and honest. They are hard-working folks, who add value to the lives of others. Another way to describe these people is this: "What you see is what you get."
Hi Amrita, Wise saying, Amrita, full of wisdom and Spirit filled. Truly you have described what a salt of the earth should be. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
SALT is NECESSARY to LIVE. It used to be used as commerce and people lost lives fighting for it. It is a VERY powerful metaphor and not to be taken lightly. I think that we can be the salt of the earth in many different ways. I personally chose a rather odd form of showing this. I am wearing red shoes EVERY day (and ONLY red shoes) for the entire year in an effort to raise monies for Rwandan Street Children/Orphans. Any time you can use what is available to you (resource wise) and show Jesus to someone you are "seasoning" their life. Just a "pinch" can make the difference between life and death. I would love for you to come check out more about the Red Shoes for Rwanda Project. God Bless, Sheri~
Hi Sheri, That is indeed a very laudable project you have and God bless you more for it. You are indeed exhibiting the qualities of a real salt of the earth. I am just sorry that I cannot be of help financially to your cause although I will pray for its success. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
In these last days, I think it's necessary that Christians refuse to take part in anything dishonest, distateful, or displeasing to the Lord. We need to defend what is right and speak up when something is wrong. As I've mentioned before, all it takes for the world to become evil, is for good people to do nothing. Salt is a joy to me. It adds richness of flavor to food, so we can add joy and richness to life by being refreshingly different. Avoiding gossip or dishonesty or perversion in all their forms, which will be a good example to others, and will give glory to the Lord, as we represent Him. Bless you all! Sheila
Thank you so much! I was mentioning this project in reference to "salt" not to "toot my own horn" but to encourage others to use what they have and do what they can to make a difference. Although the Red Shoe project is obviously to raise money for a cause, I need the prayer's and encouragement from God's peoples even more than that, as this is only to bring glory to Him. I am so happy to have discovered this delightful blog. I enjoy hearing perspectives on all sorts of subjects and you have created a safe environment in which to do this. Thank you so much! In Him, S.
Hi Shiela, You said it all. Amen to that. Yes, that should be the attitude of all good meaning Christians. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
