Obedience

                         OBEDIENCE TO THE WILL OF GOD

Obedience is better than sacrifice. This was the stinging rebuke given by God to Saul who disobeyed His command to completely wipe out his enemies including women, children and livestock. Saul and his men saved the fattest of the livestock as spoils of war to offer as sacrifices to the Lord. Because of this willful disobedience of God's command to Saul, Saul lost his anointing and the kingdom of Israel to David.

Our first parents also disobeyed the command of God not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Because of this willful disobedience, our first parents lost their identity as being created in the image and likeness of God. And mankind was doomed to a state of depravity and eternal damnation. It took the sacrifice and death of Jesus Christ on the cross to regain that identity for mankind. But there is a price for it. Man must accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior to regain that identity and attain eternal salvation by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other way to attain our salvation. "There is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
