Paborito ko po iyong patintero... I could still reminisce while growing up, all the kids in our neighborhood, which are mostly my cousins, would play it every friday night and saturday night.

We still have the dirt road in our province so what we will do is make patintero lines by pouring buckets of water in the dry dirt. We would play until our parents would call us and make us take a shower because we are all covered with dirt... LOL.. Those were the good old days...

Andrea loves to listen to stories about my childhood. She loved the fact the I could swim in the river and climb trees when I was her age. She is also very eager to listen about my stories about christmas caroling and spending th night in the cementery during all souls day... Kaya po, as much as possible, I practice all kinds of filipino traditions here so atleast she would experience it. Sana lng someday, before she gets too old, she would get the chance to experience a little bit of my childhood fun.

Kapag pumupunta po kasi kami jan for a vacation, hubby would not allow her to go out and play without him around. Very protective and tatay sa kanyang dalaga.

Hay haba na ng comment ko.. Keep It Short And Simple Pa Naman ang Title ng blog mo... hehehe

In the very short summeres, I was outside as long as possible, bicycling, hula hoop, roller scating, kick the can, swimming, badminton, baseball, won awards in track and field tournaments. In winters, I loved playing "house" and "mommy" the most, loved cleaning and organizing, started getting paid for it at age 10, did it for other families at 11, just wanted to be a Mom and wife and maybe interior designer or nurse. Then I got so tired of the hospital being my second home I gave up on that desire, and became allergic to all pets so could not be an interior designer,(most wealthy people have pets) so became a writer because I was getting awards for writing at age 12-14. Wrote a lot while in the hospital. Started working 2-3 jobs plus school and church job constantly at age 14 age 37 when I learned I had burned out my adrenal glands and whole body. This year I will start "playing" again and enjoying life.

Patentiro yung palagi kong nilalaro, tapos tagu taguan o, piko. at marbles too o jolen /holen kaya pinisa ng big bro ko yung chicken fox sa mukha ko kasi I always followed him around every time he hid his marbles.

Then, baril barilan too using dahon ng pinya, matapos magnagkaw ng pinya we played baril barilan or bahay bahayan para hindi halata ng mga polis na nagbabantay sa pineapple farm na nagnanakaw kami lol.

Parang laro yata ang palagi kong inaatopag when I was little, nagkacut class pa ako para lng makapaglaro.High school naman voleyball was my fave sport to play.
Sa daming nilalaro hindi ko alam kung anong tagalog sa mga iyon lol. thanks for the interactive post Sir Mel.

Hi Kathy,
I always love your honest comments, hindi kasi plastic. You grew up in the province and you sure have good memories of your childhood days. But time passes by at nasa ibang bansa na kayo and your children will surely pick up the cultures and lifestyle of the people there. Sa Visayas ka ba nanggaling? Sa Cebu? I hope your hubby will let your children enjoy their brief stay in the country by letting them play with local children . Thanks for your visit and honest comments. God bless you all always.

Hi sis Pia,
You really enjoyed hide and seek. Children are still playing them today but sometimes with some variations. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi Shiela,
You always had an exciting and colorful life. I'm sure you enjoyed all those kiddie games and your games continued when you were getting a little older. You have tried so many things in life. I would say, you have lived your life to the full. Thanks for your visit and honest comments. God bless you always.

Hi Shy,
Well those were the good ole days na puro laro at saya pa ang buhay mo. God bless you all always.

Oh I have lots---Chinese garter, patintero, syatong, piko, and playing tag in the rain.

Mel Avila Alarilla said...

Hi Sam,
Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Shy,
You're welcome. Thanks for coming back. God bless you all always.

Hi Bingkee,
I'm not familiar with syatong, first time I've heard of that. You played a lot of games when you were a kid. You must have enjoyed a lot too, lol. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
