I can't imagine myself being in that position...It must be real tough:(( especially that most of us can't swim..I mean, the ladies including my Mom...
You know, yesterday I had my car washed when the rain poured a little bit on my way home. Soon as I arrived, I hurriedly grabbed towels to clean my car and even took Jim's car out of the garage coz his is dirty anyway and put mine in when he told me, "think about those cars that were floating in Manila"... hmmmp, that stopped me for awhile:(

Oh Mel I am SO glad you posted! I was so worried about you and I am still worried about Pia and all of our other Filipino blogger buddies! I will leave comments on their blogs and try to see if they respond soon.
The scriptures say the natural disasters in the last days will be like a woman in labor. They will come closer and closer together, and worse and worse, and more than in history before. We are in the last days.
I have always had a backpack for each member of our family that has a change of clothes, important papers in ziploc plastic bags, and a bunch of other camping stuff that will help us survive for 72 hours. Then all I have to do is throw in my medicines. If the water is shallow, I can put it on my back and walk through the water to a higher place, if the water is deeep, I have put large garbage bags inside the backpack, one to cover me like a raincoat if its raining, and one to lay on if I find a safe place to lay, and one to put the backpack in to keep it all dry as we wait for rescuers. I'd be waiting on our upper floor of course, but in some floods people have to get on their roof to wait.
Sorry this is so long but it reminds me of a story. (joke). There was a man who was rescuing others during a flood, and a boat came by and the people in the boat asked him to get in. He said no, he wanted to search for others. Soon it got deeper and as he passed a hotel, people from a high floor window told him to get into the window where he would be dry iin the hotel. He said no, he had to find others. Then it got deeper and a helicopter came by and demanded that he get rescued. He said no, and by this time he was so tired, he drowned. He got to the pearly gates of heaven and he asked St. Peter "Why didn't God save me? I was serving him by helping others!" St. Peter said "We sent 3 rescuers for you, but you refused them!"
Everyone gets a different moral to that story, so I'll let you decide what it is for yourself, but whenever I see a flood, I think of that story.
PRAYING FOR ALL PEOPLE INVOLVED AND FOR THOSE ISLANDS ON TSUNAMI WARNING!!!

Hi Shawie,
You just can't imagine the sheer fear that will run down your spine if ever you face a situation like that. That was what happened to us two years ago when we have to leave our one storey house and sought the shelter of a neighbor's house with two storeys. We waded through waist deep surging waters that were pushing us back. Good thing that we transferred to a two storey house since the house we lived before was inundated with waters up to the rooftop. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi Shiela,
We are okay now although water was waist deep inside our house and we were marooned for two days in our second floor. Pia is okay since she's living in Makati area which is quite high. The flood that we encountered was the worst flood I have experienced in my lifetime. It is so devastating. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi Amrita,
I know that there are also strong cyclones in India very much like the typhoons in the Philippines. We need not worry since God will take care of us. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Oh Mel I am sorry your area was affected, but I am glad you are on the second floor. So this flood is worse tan the one where you lived on the first floor? I am thanking the Lord for saving you and your family. Thanks for the news about Pia. Do you know about Mistipurple and Shiela and EmmyRose?
THANK HEAVEN YOU ARE SAFE!
Sheila

Hi Shiela,
I don't know about the other two but Emmyrose is safe. Like Pia, she lives in a higher area in Metro Manila and is well taken care of. I know all your Filipino blogger friends are okay. Filipinos are very resilient. They always rise from the onslaughts of trials. Thanks for your very comforting words. God bless you always.

I never experienced it yet But my maternal grandfather shared to us how one of my mother's brother died due to a flood caused by TREX.. My late father and three siblings had the same experience when typhoon Sisang came with a tidal wave and wipe away our house. We were in the hospital then and my father had to hold three of my siblings in the raging water, good thing that God was with them that time. They spend the whole night in a swamp but they were all safe.

If a flood came so abrupt, I don't think I can do things to prepare.. But if the rain comes in days, I could make a plan that could save us.

Being in the military, we were trained to always be ready with different calamities and life situation. When we came here in Korea, we were give a case where you need to put your first aid kits and other things to survive in case something happen.

Hi Rose,
Yes, I agree with you. If we are caught suddenly by a surging flashflood, there is not much we can do. We can only pray for survival. Praise the Lord that your family survived that ordeal. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi John,
Yes, sailors are prepared for the worst contingencies. Your training will serve you well in emergency cases. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

I think about this more often now because I live near the ocean. I'm worried about tsunamis hitting us and what I should do when it happens. If there was a flashflood, I'd pop open my skylight windows and climb onto the roof. I have an emergency kit ready so I would also grab that with me.

You maybe living near the ocean but the US has the most advanced tsunami warning system in the world. I'm sure you will have ample time to evacuate if a flash flood will hit your area. Wonderful that you are well prepared for this eventuality. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless.

I am the sort of guy who passions to seek radical stuff. Presently I am building my hold pv panels. I am making it all by myself without the aid of my staff. I'm using the net as the only path to acheive this. I encountered a really brilliant site which explains how to contruct photovoltaic panels and so on. The web site explains all the steps required to photovoltaic panel building.

I'm not exactly sure about how correct the info given there iz. If some people over here who have xp with these works can have a see and give your feedback in the site it will be great and I'd extremely value it, cauze I extremely passion solar panel construction.
