How Do You Describe Your Parents?

How do you describe your parents, your mother and your father? How is your relationship with them? Would you bring up your kids the way you were brought up by your parents?

The best compliment anyone could ever give me would be to tell me that I am like my parents. They are amazing. I do my best to raise my daughter the same way they raised me.

My parents have passed away and although I loved them both we were a very dysfunctional family and for this I have opted to not have children.

My parents have passed on, but I think of them nearly every day. They weren't perfect, but they were indeed a blessing and I am fortunate. I have tried to raise my children in a similar fashion, hopefully learning from their mistakes. For instance, they came from a generation that did not express love verbally or even with hugs unless you were going on a trip. I tell my daughters I love them constantly.

Hi Livin With Me,
Looks like you were raised ideally by your parents for you to treat them that way. You are bound to pass on to your own children the training, love and care that your parents nurtured towards you and your siblings. Thanks for your thoughts about the subject matter. God bless.

Hi Nanjodogz,
I'm sorry to hear that. You are depriving yourself the joy of having your own children. If you had a dysfunctional relationship in your family, you can always correct that in your own family. Thanks for sharing with us your own thoughts about your parents. God bless.

Hi Sandra,
Yes, we have the power to change the way we were brought up by our own parents by correcting them in our own children. We tend to raise our kids the way we were raised by our own parents but we can change some of dysfunctional ones. Thanks for your thoughts about your parents. God bless.

My parents, my life, my past, my present, my future

My parents have both died now. I can honestly say they were the most two incredible and talented people I have ever known. I chose to not bring up my children the way they raised me. My children learned to value relationships instead of “things” and were raised as Christians. That prevented much of the heartache, fear & worry in their lives that I had to endure.

Hi Jlmon,
Looks like your parents were everything to you. You are so blessed to have such wonderful parents. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless.

Hi Lady Lynn,
I feel that you love your parents so much that you overlooked and disregarded whatever faults they may have had. You raised your kids in Christian values to shield them from the harsh experiences you suffered in your life. That's very understandable. We love our parents no matter what they are. Thanks for your revealing comments. God bless you and your family always.

Hi Tammy,
I have no doubt that your kids will grow up to be exemplary citizens of your country. You use the best methods to develop them as you have received such training from your parents. You're so blessed to have parents like them. Someday, you will have a grand reunion with the Lord. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you and your wonderful family always.

Hi. My parents are incredible. We have never had alot of money and I can remember my Dad always wanting to give us as much as he could on the little money we had. I will never forget the time he made a "ski-boose" (thing that goes behind a snowmobile) out of old parts just so we could ride with our friends that had a brand new one. He and my mom have always put us first. I sure hope I am following in their footsteps with my children

Well...my mom is kinda old fashion and she's too protective. If there is one thing that I won't adopt from them, I guess the over protectiveness. I want my little Chesca to explore the world.

Cheers!

My father already passed away 12 years ago but they say I'm a daddy's girl.
My family is my best friend. My mother is my closest friend ever, as well as, my sister.
I can't live without them and I love them very much!
Definitely, I will raise my daughter the way I was raised.

My father's an old-schooled disciplinarian. He would have been 85 this year. We had issues but eventually got settled back when he was still around. And my memories of him are really of the fond kind.

My Mom is 70ish, and glaucomic. She was very strict when I was young. But only had her children's welfare in her heart.

Having my own adult children, I have completely and fully answered the many questions I had before about my parents.

And I love both of them.

Hi Luanne,
You seem to have wonderful parents that have given you valuable pointers and lessons in life. I sure hope you can pass them on to your own children. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless.

Hi Metropolismom,
Maybe your mother just wanted to shield you from the pain she went through, that's why she was sort of over protective with you. You know, we learn valuable lessons in life through trial and errors and we never want our kids to undergo the same sufferings we've been through. Just try not to be too lenient on your own kid to compensate for the over protection of your own mom. Use wisdom in determining the best way we should mold our kids. Thanks for your visit and valuable comments. God bless.

Hi Praning5254,
You have such a peculiar name, he, he, he, *lol* I hope you're not that way in real life. Joke only! No offense meant. I'm so glad that you were brought up with correct values and standards by your parents. I do hope you can pass them on to your own kids. Thanks for your visit and wonderful comments. God bless.

Hi Lotus Flower,
When we were younger, we always thought our parents to be old fashioned and outmoded, but when we grew old and had children of our own, we began to appreciate what they taught us. That's life. It's like a cycle. People just refuse to heed the words of their parents until they themselves learn from their own bitter experiences in life. Afterwards, they have their own communication problems with their children. Thanks for the visit and comments. God bless.

i know that I was a bad daughter to them. but now i try so hard to make it up to them. They're the BEST. They went through ordeals in the past just to send us to a good school and to provide us what we need. Two thumbs up for them...GOD BLESS!!
